Two forms of visa are commonly used to work in Australia, depending on the length of stay and age of the applicant.
Working Holiday Visa (WHV)
The WHV is appropriate for short-term
contracts where the individual is between 18-30 years of age. The
person is able to stay in Australia for up to 12 months.
Temporary Business - Long Stay
(Otherwise known as the 457)
This is the most commonly used program for
employers to sponsor overseas workers to work in Australia on a
temporary basis. There is no age restriction and individuals can stay
in Australia for up to 4 years. They can then apply for permanent
residency.
